Cervical cancer screening
It is advised for women over the age of 18 to attend cervical cancer screening each year, especially if there is a history of cervical cancer, surgery or an unknown source of vaginal discharge.
Although cervical cancer is the most easily recognisable cancer, each year there are hundreds of women who die due to the negligence of screening tests.
Cervical cancer screening consists of three steps:
- Palpation of vagina
- Colposcopy: examination of the surface of the vagina with microscope
- Cytology examination: extraction of smaples from the cervical canal and the cervix.
