When should you take part in a Gastroenterology screening?
We recommend it to you if:
You have symptoms:
- Stomach ache, bloated belly, insufficient digestion
- Uncomfortable feeling after meals
It is especially recommended if the preceding symptoms are frequent.
You don’t have any symptoms, but there is a family history of:
Inflammation, food allergies, ulcers, acid reflux, stomach sugery, narrowing of intestines, tumour, Irritable Bowl Syndrome etc.
Your are older than 45.
- If „something” has changed in your digestion after you have been abroad or had antibiotic treatment
- You would like to lose weight
- You would like to gain weight
- You have questions regarding nutrition
- You would like pieces of advice or medication before travelling to a tropical country.
After the screening your doctor will compile a nutrition guide and lifestyle program based on your authentic needs, or in case of a problem, do a so-called one-day endoscopic surgery.
Why is there a need for a Gastroenterology screening?
With this screening, abnormalities without symptoms can be revealed before they cause more serious problems. This is very important because in the background of digestive diseases, there are many abnormalities that may have to be treated immediately.
The Gastroenterology examination contains:
- a map-out of symptoms
- physical examination
- laboratory examination (blood count, stool and urine examination)
- ultrasound (the shape and size of inner organs can be examined and tumours and gall stones can be identified)
- gastro- and colonoscopy
- X-ray examination
