The not proper shape, size of not just the breast but areolas can also cause either health or aesthetical problem. Supernumery nipples is not too rare developmental abnormality of the areolas, while inverted nipples are more often deviations than this. These latter are not just aesthetical problematic but can block breastfeeding fully after the child-bearing.
For whom we recommend
We recommend areola correction surgeries partly to those who are basically satisfied with the size and shape of their breasts just would like to correct their areolas, which are asymmetric or considered too big, and / or their inverted nipples. Secondly it can be ideal for those who would like to make their breasts more aesthetic combined with any other breast plastic intervention.
Before the areola correction
At the first meeting you can discuss with your plastic surgeon what
you would like to achieve with the areola correction, what
expectations you have in connection with breast plastic
intervention.
Based on this the plastic surgeon decides if any other breast
operation is reasonable too (augmentation, lift, reduction,
breast asymmetry correction) after the choice of which your
doctor explains you the technique of the breast surgery and
shows where the scars would be.
What happens during the areola correction?
If it comes to the correction of inverted nipples or areola reduction on its own then the plastic surgeon performs it under local anesthesia and takes only cca. 30 minutes. But if another breast surgery is associated with it the intervention is carried out under general anesthesia.
After the areola correction
After the breast surgery you have to spend few hours in the clinic
for observation then you can go home with an escort. After the
operation pain, skin blushing, mild tissue swelling can occur as
a local reaction but these would disappear totally within few
days.
We place a bandage on after the operation that we remove on the
occasion of the stitch removal, 10 – 14 days after the
intervention. By that time you have to take care that no water
should touch the bandage and protect the wound from mechanic hit
or permanent press (for example during using a safety
belt).
After the areola correction just nice, thin scars are left and
the final result can be admired even after the stitch removal.
