Varicosity, varicose vein disease, concerning very many people in our homeland as well, is not just an aesthetical but also a health problem with serious consequences.
The slightly enlarged veins does not cause complaints initially but as the number of varicose veins increases and their state worsens the feeling of “heavy leg” develops, a shin cramp, constant pain, in the most serious cases even a shin ulcer may occur. We have several possibilities to avoid the deterioration of the state and more serious consequences such as removing the varicose veins surgically.
For whom we recommend
We recommend the sclerotherapy for all those who would like to remove their large, expanded varicose veins so to get rid of the health problems evolved due to the varicosity. We recommend it also for those who have just aesthetically disturbing varicosity but they would like to prevent the further, more serious consequences.
Before the sclerotherapy
Before the treatment you discuss with your plastic surgeon, conciliating also with a vascular surgeon if it is necessary, from which area you would like to remove the disturbing vasodilatations and if this is really the suitable intervention for you, then the doctor reviews the surgical technique.
Before starting the surgery we discuss what other illnesses you have and we also make some other examinations are important regarding the operation.
What happens during the sclerotherapy?
We carry out the operation under local anesthesia, requiring about 0,5 – 1,5 hours. In our clinic we use the technique of the sclerotherapy acknowledged worldwide, the so-called Várady-method that has been developed by the Hungarian-born professor Várady. During the operation we remove the enlarged veins from small incisions with the help of the Várady-equipments. A functionally and aesthetically excellent surgical result can be achieved with this technique.
After the sclerotherapy
After the surgery we place an elastic bandage or compression thighs on the surgical area that you have to wear for 3 weeks. A minimal pain may occur after the operation but this can be eliminated with painkillers. You have to come back for the stitch removal after 1 week; small, hardly visible scars stay on the area of the surgery. After the surgery there is a need for relaxation at home only for few days as well as it is worth to avoid strong physical strain, and sport for 4 – 6 weeks.
