Our neck, as the continuation of our face, is also “visible to the eyes,” so being aesthetic is just as important. Wrinkles do not choose: they appear on necks just as on faces of both women and men. The same can be said for the excess fat accumulated on the neck (so called “double chin”).
For whom we recommend
We recommend plastic surgery of the neck and chin to those who wish to modify and improve a double chin which has resulted either from weight gain or simply exists as a personal, natural characteristic, as well as to rectify sagging skin of the neck which typically come with ageing. A neck lift often accompanies a face lift.
Before a neck lift
During consultation you discuss with your plastic surgeon what result you would like to reach with neck lift, what your expectations are, if a face lift is needed as well. Then the surgeon reviews the procedure, shows where the scars would be, and explains the risks of the surgery.
What happens during a neck lift?
The surgery is carried out under local anesthesia or general anesthesia requiring 1 – 1.5 hours. The surgery is performed by making an incision in the folds of the chin. The excess layer of skin, as well as the underlying excess fat would be removed according to the desired effects one wishes to achieve. Completing the surgery, a bandage is placed on the neck.
After a neck lift
You have to spend one night at the clinic after the surgery. You may notice a discoloration of the skin at the surgical area due to bleeding, but this will disappear within a maximum of 2-3 weeks. The stitches will be removed 1-2 weeks after the intervention. The scar as thin as a thread and is undetectable as it is located in a fold under the chin. This way the shape of your neck will be more beautiful and your skin more taut.
